Neptune Medical, is an innovative, venture capital funded medical device startup headquartered in Burlingame, CA. We have already commercialized novel medical devices using our technology. Now the team at Neptune is building something truly unique: a fully flexible medical robot that enables doctors to reach deep into human anatomy. Our Triton robot will disrupt flexible endoscopy and set a new standard with Triton Robotic Endoscopy in outcomes for decades to come. This new role will help build the video “eyes” of a next-generation robotic endoscope that could change flexible endoscopy. Do you build proofs-of-concept in days, not weeks? Are you at home in software, while leaning into hardware? You will work in the Vision team and work closely with the Software team, integrating the embedded Linux computer, FPGA bridges, and high-speed SerDes links at the heart of our new camera and display system. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with Intuitive Surgical and Auris Health alumni, along with BattleBots World Championship winners. You will design and code new solutions, join code reviews and bring up new hardware in the lab, handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced and collaborative start-up. Tech you’ll touch: CUDA, GStreamer, ROS 2, CI/CD, V4L2, Verilog.

  • Design and prototype solutions using NVIDIA Jetson Orin embedded Linux computers with FPGA bridges, optimizing for latency, efficiency, and robustness.
  • Design, develop, document, and improve software for video pipelines that capture and display low-latency video, record and composite streams, and deliver metadata and video for robot fault-monitoring and AI handoff.
  • Opportunity to work with deep-learning engineers to integrate AI applications into the product code.
  • B.S. or pursuing an M.S. in EE, CE, CS, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field--or have equivalent hacker-level experience.
  • Coursework or challenging projects in embedded Linux systems
  • Robust knowledge of C++ and Python
  • Familiarity with either embedded Linux internals or digital-logic acceleration (FPGA / Verilog / VHDL) – we’ll mentor you on the rest.
  • Demonstrated passion for building systems with challenging requirements at the hardware/software interface
  • Any of the following: Linux drivers, FPGA coding and bring-up, high-speed data and networking protocols, I2C, high-speed electronics, or NVIDIA’s (or comparable SoC) embedded software stack.
  • This role may also be eligible for 401(K) with matching.
