About The Position

Are you interested in a 6 month co-op opportunity with Philips? We seek individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) degree to participate in paid opportunities at our site in New Kensington. Through this role you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience working for a HealthTech company.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • Detailed experience analyzing chemical and physical properties of materials to draw scientific conclusions.
  • Experience using test instrumentation and equipment in and out of a Lab environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with other (technical) disciplines, external partners, and companies.
  • Ability to successfully perform the minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Supports biological safety evaluations of materials, components, and finished devices used in sleep and respiratory care products, under direct supervision.
  • Assists in reviewing material composition data, supplier documentation, and manufacturing process information to support biological risk assessments and compliance with ISO 10993 and related regulatory standards.
  • Organizes, tracks, and curates biological safety data and test reports to ensure traceability and accessibility for ongoing and future evaluations.
  • Contributes to the development of Biological Evaluation Plans (BEPs) and Biological Evaluation Reports (BERs) by compiling background data, drafting sections, and ensuring adherence to applicable standards and company policies.
  • Performs literature searches and toxicological data gathering to support material safety justifications and hazard assessments.
