About The Position

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. Tampa Electric is wishing to provide an opportunity for college students or recent graduates the opportunity to explore career options within the field of Substation Engineering. This includes allowing students to apply academic knowledge, skills, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals.

Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
• Enrollment in the university's co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Degree: Electrical Engineering.
• Year in School: Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new and existing substation engineering protection and control for distribution and/or transmission stations.
• Participate in meetings with internal and external departments/vendors.
• Attend trainings related to engineering, safety, and leadership.
• Support the RTU team when needed.
