About The Position

The College of Engineering (CoE) at the University of Miami is launching an ambitious growth area in Health Engineering, with multiple hires expected to support several new initiatives in engineering. The focus areas include Synthetic Biology, Public Health Engineering, Engineering Cancer Cures, Engineering and Applied Physics in Urology, Institute for Neural Engineering, and Engineering the Eye. The College will be recruiting several tenure-track/tenured faculty at all ranks to lead research programs in Healthcare Engineering with an emphasis on these areas. Appointments are expected to be made in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering, with applications considered for all departments. Each appointment is expected to start on August 15, 2025.

Requirements

  • PhD or MD/PhD in engineering or related disciplines.
  • Outstanding record of research accomplishments.
  • Strong interest in undergraduate and graduate education.
  • Commitment to professional service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in collaborative research.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work with the Miller School of Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research programs in Healthcare Engineering with an emphasis in Synthetic Biology, Public Health, Cancer Engineering, Urologic Engineering, Neural Engineering, and Ophthalmic Engineering.
