About The Position

Delivers food, supplies, and equipment to schools for child nutrition operations; performs work related to warehouse receiving and order pick-up.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic computing skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Ability to drive a large delivery truck
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements
  • Within 60 days of employment, successfully complete Child Nutrition Services Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) training
  • Within 90 days of employment complete training and certification requirements as a forklift operator.

Nice To Haves

  • Current commercial driver’s license (CDL)
  • Two years of experience in driving a large delivery truck.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a large delivery truck for drop off and pick up of foods, supplies, materials, and food service equipment.
  • Loads delivery trucks to most efficiently meet daily routes.
  • Performs work to unload and properly shelve products at delivery locations.
  • Maintains a high degree of safety during loading and unloading operations and while driving route.
  • Collects signatures of deliveries for audit control.
  • Receives, stores, and rotates goods in central warehouse in accordance with HACCP and uses best practices for handling potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Attends annual training in accordance with the National School Lunch Program federal regulations for professional standards and maintains documentation of attendance for auditing purposes.
  • Performs daily safety and operational checks of vehicles, refrigeration apparatus, and equipment; reports concerns appropriately to maintain safety and operational standards.
  • Cleans vehicle/truck to maintain appearance and sanitary standards.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
