About The Position

The position involves setting up and operating 2 spindle CNC machines. The operator will examine blueprints or work orders to determine the finished specifications of parts. Responsibilities include putting tools and inserts into machines according to setup sheets, loading material into the machine for machining, and starting the machine. The operator will observe the operation and verify the conformance of parts to specifications using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, and micrometers.

Requirements

• 3-5 years CNC experience
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to measure parts accurately
• Advanced blueprint reading skills
• Advanced computer skills
• Basic math and reading skills
• Knowledge of tooling
• Knowledge of gages
• Ability to use 0-1” micrometers, depth micrometers, comparators, drop indicators, dial/plug gages, profilometers and height gages
• Knowledge of tool layouts and inserts
• Ability to follow setup sheets
• Ability to adjust and change spindle liners
• Knowledge of SPC and Vantage
• Safety minded at all times

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 2 spindle CNC machines
• Examine blueprints or work orders to determine finished specifications of parts
• Put tools and inserts into machines in accordance with setup sheets
• Load material into machine for machining
• Start machine and observe operation
• Verify conformance of parts to specifications using measuring instruments
• Change tools and adjust offsets as needed
• Change and adjust inserts, collets, and spindle liners when necessary
• Load programs into CNC machines
• Set tool length offsets
• Preset tools
• Put offsets into control
• Run parts after machine is set up
• Measure parts for accuracy
• Conduct visual inspection of parts
• Identify non-conforming parts
• Move non-conforming parts to scrap bins
• Load bars into machines
• Enter information into SPC as required
• Complete in-process log sheets
• Log in and out of Vantage
• Clean work area
• Perform all other duties as assigned
