The machines used include CNC machining centers, milling machines, drill presses, metal cutting band saws, and machine lathes. The role requires working from drawings and specifications in various measurement systems, including English, metric, fractional, and decimal dimensions, while holding exacting tolerances. Additionally, the position entails sharpening and maintaining press tooling, setting up dies with the correct punch to die clearance, and determining quality using calipers, micrometers, and scales. The individual will follow instructions from the production scheduler and/or shift supervisor to ensure tooling is ready for production runs and will be responsible for writing purchase orders for necessary tools and equipment.
