About The Position

Manufacture precision optics and optical components. Read and interpret optical component drawings/specs including GD&T. Interpret interferograms, CMM reports, and other metrology data. Independently set up and operate polishing equipment, lathes, flycutters, and other manual/CNC machines. Perform bi-weekly maintenance on polishing machines. Use advanced testing equipment such as interferometers and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering and technicians. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Job requires standing 80-90%, walking 10-20%, bending 20%, lifting < 15 lbs.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions
  • Hands-on mechanical skills: disassembling/reassembling components, diagnosing issues
  • Strong geometry and trigonometry skills
  • Ability to work any shift, including compressed schedules
  • Multi-tasking skills to run multiple machines in a cell
  • Dexterity to handle delicate optical components
  • Optical Polishing: Mechanical hands-on repair and maintenance
  • Optical Manufacturing (Cutting): CNC programming and cutting tool knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year technical degree preferred
  • Experience with surface quality standards and inspection
  • Machine maintenance experience
  • Optical metrology experience
  • Optical Polishing: Optical metrology and machine maintenance
  • Optical Manufacturing (Cutting): Freeform cutting, G-Code programming, Calypso/DIFFSYS experience
