About The Position

The Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) Surface Grinder Set Up Machinist position is responsible for setting up Horizontal Mills from an unfurnished state and running production parts. Typical tolerance peak is +/-.0001 to +/-.002” on critical features per drawing. This is accomplished through the following essential functions: • Read prints and set up sheets to prepare the tooling necessary to set up and run parts. • Load tooling and programs, then verify the machine is ready to produce. • Prepare area and stage material, then validate all requirements prior to running the initial part. • Load and remove material in CNC machine. • Use measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc., to check parts as they come off the machine. • Identify parts that deviate from standard specifications. • Run multiple machines, when necessary. • Adjust offsets. • Problem solve when programs are not producing desired results. • Follow both verbal instructions and internal procedures that will be taught. • Maintain the highest standards specifically applied by our company for aesthetic values on both manufactured parts and the internal environment. • Maintain constant communication with supervisor about job progress. • Clean and maintain cleanliness of work area. • Complete other tasks as assigned. • Differential pay of $2 an hour is already considered into the range listed • Work 36 hours and given an addition 4 hours per week.
