About The Position

Position Summary The CNC Supervisor is a hands-on, working leader responsible for driving daily CNC operations, developing people, and delivering results. This is not a sit-back-and-observe role. You will be on the floor, coaching operators, solving problems in real time, balancing production demands, and keeping both employees and leadership aligned. Success in this role requires technical machining expertise, strong people leadership, and the ability to operate calmly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities compete and expectations are high.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead from the floor — coaching, correcting, and supporting in real time
  • Comfortable holding people accountable while maintaining trust and morale
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Patient, consistent, and effective trainer and mentor
  • Strong machining background with CNC and manual machines
  • Experience with: Eastman C135 Conveyor Cutting System Onsrud 145M12D CNC Router
  • Ability to teach machining fundamentals and advanced techniques
  • Demonstrated track record of driving process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities
  • Solid digital literacy, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience evaluating employee performance and delivering constructive feedback
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibration, and moving mechanical parts
  • PPE required: eye and hearing protection, gloves, respirators, protective clothing as applicable
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working on the production floor
  • Non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to heat, cold, dust, and chemicals (acetone, resin, fiberglass, adhesives, cleaners)

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily CNC department operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements
  • Actively manage workflow, staffing, and machine utilization to maximize productivity and minimize scrap
  • Work hands-on with CNC equipment as needed — including setup, troubleshooting, training, and process validation
  • Train, coach, and develop operators with varying experience levels and skill sets
  • Set clear expectations, address performance issues promptly, and recognize strong performance
  • Balance employee needs, operational realities, and leadership expectations — often simultaneously
  • Review and act on performance data including labor hours, overtime, productivity, quality, and cross-training
  • Maintain and manage DMS Production Boards and other departmental tracking tools
  • Implement and improve systems, processes, and standard work to drive efficiency and consistency
  • Identify root causes of production or quality issues and lead corrective actions
  • Make sound, defensible decisions aligned with Freeman policies, safety standards, and financial responsibility
  • Maintain accurate production and labor records and ensure consistent policy application
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall manufacturing objectives
