About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the CNC Setup Operator ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The CNC Setup Operator will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, occasionally required to walk and regularly required to use hands to handle, touch objects or controls. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. On occasion the incumbent may be required to walk, stop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift up to 25 pounds, regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Pulls all necessary tools and fixtures to set program in the mill
  • Runs first piece to see that all the dimensions match the print
  • Takes the first part to QC Lab for first piece inspection approval (Must be able to operate Portage Table) or get assistants from Quality Tech
  • Sets approved first piece at machine center for reference until job is completed
  • Make necessary notes for operator to follow
  • Be available to make additional adjustments if necessary
  • Performs any and all other duties assigned by management
