About The Position

As a Machinist (Programming / Setup) at Coperion in Whitewater, Wisconsin, you will support production activities by setting up, adjusting, and operating a variety of machine tools, including mills, drills, saws, lathes, CNC, and other equipment necessary to produce precision metal parts. Your role is to ensure parts are manufactured to exact specifications, maintaining high quality and efficiency standards. You will work within established procedures, collaborate on more complex tasks when needed, and contribute to the overall productivity of our manufacturing team.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years’ progressive experience operating drills, lathes, milling machines, and CNC equipment.
  • Ability to read BOMs and work according to blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experienced with the use of hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication equipment.
  • Strong understanding of precision measurement tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • A 2-year trade certificate in machining is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing environment is mandatory.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Welding certifications (MIG, ARC, gas welding) are highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with extruder gearboxes, industrial machinery, or refurbishment projects.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • CNC machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, saws, or grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Support the activities of operations by setting up, adjusting, and operating a variety of machines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Support the overall manufacturing process as needed.
