Magellan Aerospace, Middletown has an exciting opportunity for an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for 3-5 axis machine centers, water jets, VTL's, wire EDM, and laser welders to produce high-precision components, primarily for aerospace and defense applications. This CNC Programmer will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline production, improve cycle times, and resolve machining issues ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • This role requires strong proficiency in Siemens NX
  • Requires a solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, materials, and industry quality standards.
  • Must have experience with designing tooling/fixtures.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC programming with Siemens NX and 5-axis machining utilizing Siemens, Fanuc, Hurco, and/or Mazak controls.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the aerospace, defense, or medical industries is strongly preferred.
  • An Associate's degree in CNC programming, machine tool technology, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with other CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • CMM programming experience using PC-DMIS software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Create and optimize CNC programs for 3 & 5-axis machines using Siemens NX and other software's to produce complex aerospace & defense components and tooling
  • Technical Drawings: Interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining operations and sequences
  • Tool Selection: Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job, verifying machine capabilities align with part specifications
  • Tooling & Fixtures: Select appropriate tooling for each job and design/create custom fixtures when necessary
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, machine setups, modifications, and test results
  • Setup and Testing: Generate documentation to set up CNC machines, perform test runs, and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet specified quality and tolerance standards
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and quality control teams to resolve technical issues and improve machining processes
  • Quality Control: Work with quality engineers and inspectors to conduct checks on finished products using precision measuring tools ensuring compliance with part specifications
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest advancements in CNC programming and machining technologies to improve production efficiency and quality
  • Compliance: Ensure all machining operations comply with environmental & safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices
