About The Position

Dixon Brass , a proud division of The Dixon Group is looking for a detailed-oriented and motivated CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Programmer to join our talented team in Westmont, IL! This is a crucial role where you'll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to manufacture high quality precision metal components and inspect product to drawing specifications. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 5 or more years of hands-on experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) lathes.
  • You can confidently read and interpret complex blueprints.
  • You are proficient with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools—you have a keen eye for detail.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: You're naturally good with tools and understanding how machines work.
  • Great attitude, a reliable work ethic (attendance is key!), and you're always willing to learn.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and can lift up to 50 lbs during your shift.

Nice To Haves

  • A background in G-code programming
  • Familiarity with CAM software (like SmartCam).
  • Experience with sub-spindle pickoff and bar feeders.
  • Turret Ops: Knowledge of wait codes for 2-turret operations (though we are willing to train the right person on this!).

Responsibilities

  • Setting up, programming, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) lathes from start to finish.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and blueprints to inspect products meticulously and ensure they meet our exact specifications.
  • Efficiently running more than one machine at a time.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot machining issues, making adjustments as needed.
  • Learn new machines and techniques.
  • Work safely and collaboratively, participate in team training, and contribute to daily preventative maintenance to keep our shop running smoothly.
