About The Position

Dixon Brass , a proud division of The Dixon Group is looking for a detailed-oriented and motivated CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Programmer to join our talented team in Westmont, IL! This is a crucial role where you'll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to manufacture high quality precision metal components and inspect product to drawing specifications. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of 5 or more years of hands-on experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) lathes.
You can confidently read and interpret complex blueprints.
You are proficient with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools—you have a keen eye for detail.
Mechanical Aptitude: You're naturally good with tools and understanding how machines work.
Great attitude, a reliable work ethic (attendance is key!), and you're always willing to learn.
Ability to stand for extended periods and can lift up to 50 lbs during your shift.

Nice To Haves

A background in G-code programming
Familiarity with CAM software (like SmartCam).
Experience with sub-spindle pickoff and bar feeders.
Turret Ops: Knowledge of wait codes for 2-turret operations (though we are willing to train the right person on this!).

Responsibilities

Setting up, programming, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) lathes from start to finish.
Use calipers, micrometers, and blueprints to inspect products meticulously and ensure they meet our exact specifications.
Efficiently running more than one machine at a time.
Recognize and troubleshoot machining issues, making adjustments as needed.
Learn new machines and techniques.
Work safely and collaboratively, participate in team training, and contribute to daily preventative maintenance to keep our shop running smoothly.
