About The Position

Ensures all safety practices and policies are followed. Sets up and operates a variety of HAAS CNC milling machines. Responsible for creating, editing, and vetting CNC programs and implementing those programs on the CNC using SolidCAM software. Strong knowledge of blueprints, measurement devices, and basic GD&T. Troubleshoots work process and equipment problems as they arise using knowledge and experience. Create part routings with detailed instructions Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of products and suggests and may implement changes to increase efficiency of jobs. Familiarity with a variety of materials including aluminum, mild steel, and plastics. Inspects the machinery and product for quality assurance. Assists with scheduling work assignments and organizing work as specified by the production schedule. Own and re-enforce the CGS cultural core elements: Safety First, Wow Your Customer, Relationships Matter, Do The Right Thing, and Can-Do Attitude. Support implementation of the Custom Glass Solutions Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of CNC machining and set up experience.
  • Ability to use basic measuring devices including digital height gauges, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and go/no-go gauging including the understanding of proper measuring techniques for GD&T.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, production environment – communicating regularly with operators and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written, able to train other operators.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other related software.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Manual machining experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks and SolidCAM (or similar CAD/CAM software) preferred.
  • 3+2 CNC milling experience is a plus.
  • Fixture design and fabrication experience is preferred.
  • Experience using lean principles preferred.
