The CNC Programmer / Associate Manufacturing Engineer for DESTACO is responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving production and processing methods and controls in manufacturing to achieve operational excellence. Works in conjunction with manufacturing engineer on recommending and implementing operational sequences, equipment utilization and tooling improvements and efficiencies to ensure cost, quality, and operational improvements. He/she will assist in establishing work measurement standards and play an active role in ensuring quality, safety, and lean manufacturing systems and processes, (Kaizen, 5S). The CNC Programmer / Associate Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer. The position is located at the Mount Juliet, TN facility, and requires minimal travel (up to 10%). The position requires the ability to work independently but with oversight and direction from the Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer. The position requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with engineering, materials, operations, and quality, and work and communicate across at various levels across the organization.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, train and lead a positive team environment
  • Analyzes, solves and implements solutions independently
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Solidworks, Mastercam, Vericut)
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing print reading
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods, tooling, fixturing and materials
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • 3 – 5 years experience in CNC Programming and/or Associate Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 2 – 4 years experience running / programming mill-turn machining centers

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Creates accurate CNC code for multiple machining centers using MasterCAM software
  • Validates quality of CNC code digitally through the use of Vericut software
  • Conducts prove-outs of CNC programs from setup through PPAP approval for production
  • Produces and maintains all documentation and files required for the production process
  • Able to design appropriate work holding solutions for processing assigned parts
  • Ensures product quality by providing the Operations team with a production process that has been tested, deemed capable, and includes all of the necessary tools for production
  • Assists setup personnel with process or tooling issues, recommending necessary fixturing and tooling used in manufacturing
  • Analyzes and solves process and tool-related problems, ensuring or increasing productivity
  • Continues to learn about new tooling, manufacturing and programming methods and implements improvements through appropriate testing
  • Makes recommendations to modify or replace equipment when necessary to support demand or improve productivity
  • Ensure integrity of prints, bills of material, setup sheets and routings
  • Establishes and updates manufacturing standards (rates, BOM’s, etc.)
  • Performs all work in a manner that ensures safety of self and others
  • Complies with government regulations and managing environmental requirements
  • Supports Destaco policies and procedures, including those governing the quality system as defined by ISO9001.
