Leidos Defense Manufacturing Sector is seeking a CNC Programmer with Siemens NX experience to support multi-axis machining of complex aerospace and defense hardware. This role requires a strong technical foundation in CNC programming and machining processes, with the ability to work independently on day-to-day objectives and contribute to process development and improvement. The selected candidate will develop and maintain CNC programs and associated manufacturing documentation, support production operations, and collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, repeatable machining processes. Requirements

  • BS degree with 4 years of relevant experience in CNC machining and/or CNC Programming or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience using Siemens NX CAM.
  • Strong working knowledge of 3-axis and 5-axis machining and mill-turn machining.
  • Experience machining a variety of materials including aluminum, steels, stainless steels, and nickel-based alloys.
  • Solid understanding and application of GD&T.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions in a production environment.
  • Ability to work independently on technical tasks and processes.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with wire EDM, plunge EDM, and CNC OD/ID Grinders.
  • Experience with Renishaw probing and CNC macro programming.
  • Familiarity with Surfcam and/or SolidWorks.
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems (e.g., Costpoint, Solumina).
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with large gantry mills, bridge mills, VTLs, or large lathes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain CNC programs for 3 & 5-Axis machining using Siemens NX.
  • Create complete work packages including programs, setup sheets, tooling, and process documentation.
  • Provide hands-on shop floor support to troubleshoot and resolve machining and programming issues.
  • Own and improve machining processes within assigned parts or product areas.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations to ensure process capability and compliance.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.
  • Contribute to tooling and fixture development to support efficient production.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives (safety, quality, cost, delivery).
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and influence process and programming approaches.
