About The Position

CNC Programmer is responsible for supporting the programming and engineering departments in their effort to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing products and processes, ensuring all pre-production processes are maximized and set-up prior to jobs being released to the shop floor. They assist in process development and documentation and programming efforts including programming set up, adjust, test, maintain, and troubleshooting of CNC milling, lathe, or other machinery according to blueprint specifications.

Requirements

  • Strong business acumen including problem-solving, data analysis, process improvement, and decision-making.
  • Expertise in CNC programming using MasterCam software (or equivalent), including toolpath generation for complex geometries and multi-axis machining.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software.
  • In-depth understanding of machining materials including polymers, Radel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure part accuracy and fit.
  • Skilled in using precision measurement instruments (e.g., gauges, micrometers, calipers).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with proprietary programs and sensitive design data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Must be able to wear required safety equipment and read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • 0-3 Years (L1), 4-6 Years (L2), 7+ Years (L3) of experience in a related job role
  • High School Diploma/GED and technical/associate degree.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including an internship in a relevant trade.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 yrs+ experience with MasterCam programming software, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in manufacturing with trade terminology and nomenclature.
  • Knowledge of machining poly, radel, aluminum, & stainless-steel materials
  • GDT a plus with machining features requiring making parts.
  • Track record in process improvement and lean manufacturing.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience.
  • A thorough understanding and a working knowledge of all job phases.

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions and direction from the Supervisor and Lead to support machining operations.
  • Create and develop new CNC programs using 3D models generated in SolidWorks and other CAD systems.
  • Manipulate 3D models within MasterCam programming software to ensure accurate, efficient, and optimized tool paths.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and programming proficiency for 4–5-axis milling machines, 3-axis mills, lathes, and horizontal machining centers.
  • Collaborate with CNC Operators to develop detailed setup sheets, provide training on new programs, and assist with program implementation.
  • Troubleshoot programming and machining issues to ensure precision, accuracy, and production efficiency.
  • Support internal processes including Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI), Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Good Manufacturing Principles (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Follow GDP/GMP guidelines by maintaining program files in revision-controlled and secure digital locations.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance, operations, and design teams to ensure effective communication and smooth production flow.
  • Assist operations with validation executions and ensure programs meet all quality and compliance standards.
  • Program parts in the most efficient and effective manner possible, recommending process improvements and equipment optimization where applicable.
  • Read, interpret, and adhere to applicable engineering drawings, blueprints, manufacturing specifications, work instructions, and quality procedures.
  • Support On-Time Delivery (OTD) and Quality metric targets by continuously improving program performance and cycle times.
  • Maintain accurate records, properly execute required forms and reports, and uphold company documentation per regulatory and internal standards.
  • Exhibit strong work ethics, professionalism, and integrity while fostering teamwork and interdepartmental cooperation.
  • Adhere to all environmental, safety, health, and operational procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tag-out processes.
  • Represent the company’s mission, vision, and values through reliability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance standards; work overtime as required to meet production goals.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
