About The Position

The machine shop at Gigafactory Nevada is seeking a talented CNC Programmer/Machinist to help advance Tesla’s mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. The machine shop team supports engineers and technicians across Tesla by providing precision machined automation components and valuable insights into machining and related manufacturing processes. We play a crucial role in transforming conceptual ideas into tangible products, enhancing designs for a range of engineering projects from pre-production vehicles to energy systems, AI, and other groundbreaking initiatives. As a CNC Programmer/Machinist, you'll be challenged with machining the most intricate and essential custom components to meet engineering goals. This role demands a high level of skill and determination, and while the work is demanding, you're ready to rise to the occasion.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC mill CAM programming experience (Mastercam preferred)
  • Ability to identify and procure effective tooling and work-holding solutions
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T
  • Thorough knowledge in measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparator, etc.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment with tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and mathematical competency
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Program, setup, and run 3-axis vertical CNC Mills and/or Lathes in a low-volume, high-mix workflow. 5-axis highly preferred
  • Work closely with engineers to provide crucial input on design for manufacturability and process improvements
  • Cut material, build tooling, set fixtures, run programs, deburr, and finish parts
  • Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines
  • Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work
  • Tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary
  • Collaborate openly with engineers and team members to find solutions, and proactively communicate with them through verbal, email, phone, and other internal electronic channels
