We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army's Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold tilt-rotor. This position is onsite in Fort Worth. Bell is seeking a CNC Process Engineer to support the Production Engineering Team at our Drive Systems Center. Contributing to the successful completion of major projects that support strategic priorities or difficult technical objectives, the CNC Process Engineer is responsible for selecting cutting tools which will produce a part to Engineering and Manufacturing requirements. The CNC Process Engineer has the responsibility of approving special cutting tool designs and introducing new technical advancements in machine tool processes as well as maintaining an overview of cutting tool performance and usage. This position long term will also execute projects for the Core ME Support group to include ensuring the smooth preparation of CNC data, post processing / simulation, proper execution of all CNC machines and troubleshooting any problems that arise. Further activities will include ensuring the proper integration of process management. Includes training and mentoring other peers and researching the latest in technological advancements. The development of standard reporting metrics, best practices and standards, and additional tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, NC, Computer Science, or Manufacturing Technology.
  • 10+ years in aerospace or related manufacturing industry working with CNC machining or composite manufacturing.
  • Experience with full NC Programming and Post processor life cycles.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GDT Standards.
  • Experience with CATIA v5 CAD/CAM.
  • Direct customer facing experience supporting production or industrialization of product.
  • Ability to identify, report, and resolve potential safety and quality hazards/risks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
  • Comprehensive understanding of processes and workflows associated with Part Planning and NC Programming.

Responsibilities

  • Select cutting tools to produce parts to Engineering and Manufacturing requirements.
  • Approve special cutting tool designs and introduce new technical advancements in machine tool processes.
  • Maintain an overview of cutting tool performance and usage.
  • Execute projects for the Core ME Support group, ensuring smooth preparation of CNC data.
  • Perform post processing/simulation and proper execution of all CNC machines.
  • Troubleshoot any problems that arise during the manufacturing process.
  • Train and mentor peers on manufacturing technologies and proper NC programming.
  • Develop and chronicle detailed records of CNC programming best practices and standards.
  • Support the development of digital automation throughout the manufacturing engineering lifecycle.
  • Partner with MTC to ensure alignment with business direction on CNC platform and infrastructure.
