About The Position

The CNC Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machinery used in the precision machining of composite materials. This role requires prior experience in CNC machining, particularly in environments dealing with non-metallic, advanced composite materials. The operator will ensure that all parts meet blueprint specifications, quality standards, and safety guidelines while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience operating CNC machines, preferably in a composite or advanced materials manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with G-code programming and CNC software interfaces.
  • Understanding of composite materials’ machining characteristics and best practices.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • High mechanical aptitude and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and work while standing for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Frequently required to reach and use hands and arms continuously.

  • Advanced technical training or certification in CNC machining preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines for composite part production.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications for part fabrication.
  • Monitor machine performance and make precise adjustments to maintain quality and tolerance standards.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and final part verification using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
  • Troubleshoot machine or program issues and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Perform daily and preventive maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Record production data and complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest enhancements to processes or tooling.
  • Monitor and achieve established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality standards, efficiency, and safety compliance, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with company goals.
  • Keep work area clean and organized to prevent safety hazards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
