The position involves analyzing a variety of specifications from blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizing the product to be made. The candidate must have knowledge to lay out stock, as well as set up and operate machine tools and hand tools. Responsibilities include fitting and assembling components to make, maintain, and repair tools, jigs, fixtures, bushings, collars, gages, and mold patterns. The role requires computing dimensions, deciding on machining to be done, and planning layout and assembly operations. The candidate will verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances while using measuring instruments such as dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers. Adaptability to new methods, processes, materials, and equipment is essential. The role also involves recording data on employee time/job cards, reporting work shortages to the Manager/Supervisor, and recommending production efficiency and quality improvements. Compliance with safety regulations and maintaining cleanliness in the tool and die area is crucial. The candidate will participate in a culture that promotes safety in the workplace, attend and contribute to department and company meetings, and develop constructive relationships with vendors, contractors, consultants, and governmental agency representatives as necessary. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
