About The Position

The CNC Operator will be responsible for operating various automated drilling equipment to create precise holes and patterns in steel plates and parts. This role is essential in ensuring the quality and accuracy of the manufacturing process, contributing to Valmont's mission of advancing agricultural productivity and infrastructure. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work independently while meeting production deadlines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in CNC set-up and programming in a heavy manufacturing environment, or graduation from an accredited trade school with 1 year of experience.
• Thorough knowledge of drilling procedures and practices.
• Ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements.
• Ability to read and decipher blueprints without assistance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with automated gang drills and plasma drills.
• Strong problem-solving skills with minimal assistance required.

Responsibilities

• Operate an automatic tool changing single spindle drill press that is numerically controlled.
• Perform machine operations including drilling, reaming, countersinking, and tapping.
• Program the automatic operation and verify dimensions from shop drawings.
• Observe operations and verify conformance of machined work to specifications and blueprint data.
• Participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices.
• Maintain a clean work area and complete other duties as directed by leaders and management.
