At RTCA, we believe in teamwork, excellence, and delivering with pride.  One Team! One Mission! A CNC Machinist oversees operating the computer numerical control (CNC) machine. They produce machined parts according to established parameters and specifications. They work alongside many departments such as: Quality, Engineering, and Operations to produce high-quality products.

Requirements

  • Works independently, follows instructions, can concentrate for long periods of time
  • Works with forgings and castings
  • Demonstrates a good attitude toward work and arrives on time for start of shift
  • Follows instructions and demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Communicates well verbally and in writing
  • Mechanically inclined, with good manual dexterity

  • High degree of mechanical aptitude (are you good with your hands, mechanics, building things)

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years’ CNC experience in the manufacturing industry with knowledge of speeds and feeds
  • Proficiency with typical precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other common inspection tools
  • 5-Axis machining and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working in a low volume, high value part environment.
  • Ability to fabricate various parts, fixtures, and jigs using machining equipment: lathes & mills
  • Experience with MS applications
  • Strong skills and aptitude in math

Responsibilities

  • Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, CA location supporting our Day Shift.
  • Working under close supervision operate CNC mills and/or Lathe mills. Can perform below task within 60 days: 1. Set up and run conventional machines to produce parts with exacting requirements. 2. Select and setup cutting tools, as needed gage tool lengths. 3. Understands basic machine language 4. Learns detect machining abnormalities and/or malfunctions based on tooling wear and damage
  • Responsible for the setup of work areas, equipment and materials; keeps work area neat and tidy.
  • Organizes such materials and equipment, data, and workflow to ensure job requirements are achieved
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools
  • Record measurement results on inspection records
  • Replace used tools as necessary
  • Thoroughly inspect first part run
  • Read, interpret, and adhere to work instructions, regulations, manuals, and quality procedures.
  • Properly operate, maintain, and store mechanical tools and equipment required to perform the job.
  • Report job status to the supervisor including any malfunctions, non-conformances, damaged equipment, or other obstacles to production.
  • Support Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Follow all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of equipment and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
