We are looking for a CNC Operator/Programmer to join the team at our Norridge, IL location. The Norridge location of NSI is a progressive manufacturer of die castings that has been in business for 50+ years and we look forward to having you join our team! Please note, this is a full-time, 1st shift position (7am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday). General Summary Accountable for programming, operation, and maintenance of CNC machine. Conduct planning sessions with tool room staff to decide on project CNC machining and EDM requirements Suggest best practices and most efficient machining solutions during planning sessions, and during the tool build as better methods are recognized Follow work instructions and tool room standards and processes Program cutter paths using Cimatron and MasterCam Software Work closely with appropriate personnel in the development and execution of prototype samples Develop written CNC programing and machining best practices/rules If post processor is not performing efficiently or correctly, consult with machine manufacturer and software company to modify post to correct the issues Program steel and electrodes per discussed and agreed upon project requirements Perform indicated CNC machine setups Oversee all aspects of CNC machine operation Oversee CNC cutter inventory and notify Tool Room Manager when replacement tooling is needed Research and suggest cutter and tooling options to improve CNC equipment efficiency Arrange for outside servicing of CNC machine if needed Perform maintenance of CNC machine Document CNC area best practices to be shared, used, and taught to the tool room team Dimensionally verify work and complete Critical Characteristic paperwork where required Verify mating component sizes prior to finishing shut-off areas to compensate for any fitment issues Create check sizes to verify each cutter change in all axis affected by the cutter When finish machining cavity and shut-off detail on multi-cavity tools, cut and verify sizes on one cavity before proceeding to finish all the cavities Stop a job when a non-conformance is found and consult with appropriate personnel
