Under minimal supervision, the CNC Operator will be able to initiate equipment setup, confirm tooling requirements, confirm and maintain part quality to specification at the beginning and throughout the production run.  The operator will maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the work cell and CNC equipment.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or certification from a college or technical school, or 2 – 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, modify and adjust CNC programming.
  • Ability to read shop prints and properly use precision measuring devices (i.e. gage pins, calipers, micrometers etc.).
  • Ability to sharpen and polish tools and dies as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of tools, inspection equipment, and work methods.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations.
  • Ability to read, understand, SOPs and other policies and procedures.
  • PC literacy.
  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit and bend over.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Have normal eye/hand motor coordination and the ability to grasp small objects.
  • Possess a normal extended reach.
  • Have the ability to determine colors and possess near acuity.
  • Frequently required to lift, carry, and load 12’ pieces of bar stock.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Citizen C16 Swiss Turning Centers (or comparable) preferred.
  • Experience with minor programming of machinery using M & G machine code.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all pertinent company Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
  • Transfers required programs between PC and machine to run appropriate parts.
  • Loads bar stock in equipment as required.
  • Sets-up, exchanges, adjusts and maintains tooling in machine to maintain required part specifications.
  • Controls and maintains spare tooling and related supplies inventory.
  • Inspects parts for compliance with SOPs, part prints and record inspection data.
  • Operates and maintains other equipment in work cell, and the department (i.e. parts cleaning equipment, chip spinner, and Cybertech fixtures).
  • Starts up, operates, and shuts down equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power.
  • Completes production reporting following company guidelines.  Keeps daily record of time spent, materials used, and scrap transactions.
  • Maintains acceptable output average to specific production standards.
  • When line is down, or as needed may perform product repair on items assigned by group leader, technical leader, supervisor or Manufacturing Operations Manager.
  • Performs related work and other duties as required, or assigned.
  • Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
  • Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) for work being performed.
