The CNC Operator 1 maintains and observes machine operation to ensure accuracy and quality of workpieces.
Operate production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include lathes, grinders, mills, and similar equipment.
Produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
Measure finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
Maintain logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
Maintain a safe work environment to make certain MIOSHA safety rules and regulations are followed.
Must be able to read a measuring tape.
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in order to count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
Perform production assignments as directed by supervisor.
Must have effective communication skills in order to read work orders or instructions to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances; and to comprehend or carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Clean and maintain machine and parts to keep equipment in optimal production conditions.
Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and detect malfunctions, or out-of-tolerance machining, by using precision measuring instruments including a micrometer and caliper.
Conduct quality inspections using calipers, tapes, height gauges, check fixtures, and drop gauges.
Consult with quality assurance and inspect work pieces throughout the production floor to identify out of tolerance machining.
Consistently meet production standards as outlined by the production schedule, and manager without compromising quality and/or safety.
Follow and comply with ISO quality procedures.
Maintain cleanliness of work area.
Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public.
Must be able to handle high stress situations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent.
Minimum 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training.
Knowledge of inventory software and order processing systems.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
