The position involves setting up and operating CNC vertical and horizontal mills to perform various machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, facing, grinding, drilling, and tapering on round bars. The operator will work from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to obtain necessary dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions. Adjustments to machinery will be required to compensate for material tooling, machine, or program conditions. The operator will also troubleshoot and resolve operating difficulties and recommend corrective actions for process failures within the department. Additionally, the operator must determine the correct cutting tool to achieve required dimensions and finish tolerances, measure finishes using micrometers and other tools, and maintain accurate records, including inspection reports.
