As a manager in the Advanced Process Lab, you will lead a team of innovative CNC and Metrology engineers focused on manufacturing process development on our cosmetic enclosures. This is a very hands on position working with cross functional teams to design and scale machining processes for Apple's high quality cosmetic parts.

  • Lead a team developing and scaling machining processes.
  • Work with product based partner teams and contract manufacturers to review DFMs for proposed machining steps and provide feedback.
  • Identify opportunities for the team to deliver early trials in the lab optimizing fixture, CAM, and cutter design.
  • Translate lab results to contract manufacturers and align scope for the team to see through on site to product ramp.
  • Manage the Advanced Process Lab Metrology and 3D Printing areas, aligning resources to support both internal lab and production site development.
  • 5 years hands on CNC machining experience milling on 3, 4, and 5 axis machines.
  • Proficiency with CAD / CAM, highly skilled at optimizing CAM for dimensional, cosmetic and cycle time.
  • Ability to design and build work holding fixtures for high volume machining processes.
  • Previous manager, group lead, or supervisor experience.
  • Ability to analyze results in statistical software like JMP or Minitab, and able to present data with recommended process direction to gain alignment of leadership and peers.
  • Basic GD&T understanding.
  • Degree from industrial technology or engineering program related to machining, manufacturing, mechanical design, or related discipline.
  • Experience managing a department of engineers, balancing multiple program needs and priorities.
  • Proven track record mentoring and growing talent.
  • 10 years experience developing and scaling high volume manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with machining highly cosmetic parts and optimizing for minimal subsequent post machining surface finishing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of related manufacturing operations including welding, gluing, forming, 3D printing, injection molding, anodizing and surface finishing processes.
