About The Position

CNC machinists work with computer numeric controlled (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic or other materials. Computer numeric controlled equipment is precision machinery that cuts, grinds, or drills into the material. CNC machinists make adjustments to the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the cut, as well as make sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product. CNC machinists make sure their machines are working at full capacity, are stocked with needed materials, well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output. They look at the finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production.

Requirements

  • High School or GED. Vocational or Technical School is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Must have experience working or be able to demonstrate that they are able to work in a team in a fast paced and continuous improvement environment
  • Mechanical and Technical Skills: Requires operators who understand CAD/CAM technology
  • Requires strong computer skills, including CNC heavy machinery. CAD/CAM skills. Microsoft Office/Windows
  • Strong Math Skills
  • Problem Solving Skills to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Attention to Detail required when working with precision equipment
  • Excellent customer service, professional attitude and appearance are a must
  • Ability to work overtime & meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Make adjustments to the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the cut, as well as make sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product
  • Ensure that their machines are working at full capacity, are stocked with needed materials, well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output
  • Inspect finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production
  • Collaborate with supplier teams to design the optimal material and tooling presentation for the shop floor and dock operations
  • Communicate with Supplier Dock Operations regarding desired changes to product format or design
  • Plan foam kit production jobs to get full utilization of the equipment
  • Program, setup and operate routing and laser equipment for production; This may include working with foam and non-foam material
  • Inspect the finished product to ensure it is debris-free
  • Deliver finished product to the appropriate Supplier
  • Maintain and implement continuous improvement tools (i.e. 5S, Pull, etc.) to the work environment and process to ensure workflow, safety, and efficiency of production
  • Maintain appropriate revision control of programs and product when cutting and distributing. Ensure that all products follow the appropriate naming conventions and storage requirements
  • Cross-train to be able to flex and cover Material Flow Associate (Warehouse Associate) and to support the Site Material Flow Improvement Leader (Team Lead), as required
