About The Position

Responsible for basic programming, fixturing, tool set-up, machining, in process inspection, and final completion of moderately tolerance details (+/- 0.005). Work with machining personnel, field machinists, engineers, and supervisors to plan and execute the most cost-effective method for producing quality parts. Exhibit and enforce a culture where safety is the first priority!

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED/HSED, required
  • Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Experience (2-3 years) with CNC machining
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints & mechanical drawings
  • Ability to operate CNC machining equipment
  • Knowledge of carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, and boring tooling
  • Knowledge of G & M code programming
  • Knowledge of feeds & speeds
  • Knowledge of the machineability of ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • Ability to measure/inspect: lengths, diameters, straightness, flatness, etc
  • Basic knowledge of GD & T
  • Basic ability with conversational programming
  • Basic ability to program using a CAM system, preferably Mastercam.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman or 2-year technical degree, preferred
  • Knowledge of Haas machining centers (vertical, horizontal and/or turning), preferred
  • Knowledge of G&L boring mills, preferred
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales (Faro C&M a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Operate 3-axis vertical and horizontal machining centers and turning centers.
  • Perform basic to moderate machining operations under technical supervision.
  • Lay out work for basic jobs using blueprints, sketches, and written specifications.
  • Develop machining processes, create part programs, select tooling, and perform setups for basic jobs.
  • Execute progressive machining operations involving moderate tolerances and finish requirements.
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy and high-quality workmanship throughout production.
  • Complete required inspections and all associated documentation.
  • Provide feedback to improve CNC programs, machining processes, and tooling.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area; perform shop duties as assigned.
  • Utilize extensive CNC programming knowledge using CAD/CAM software.
  • Operate CNC horizontal and vertical boring mills, lathes, and milling centers proficiently.
  • Set up machinery for efficient operation and part processing.
  • Manufacture custom precision parts for large-scale industrial repair work.
  • Assist in coordinating and strategizing CNC machine selection to optimize workflow.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales (Faro C&M a plus).
  • Interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances with strong accuracy.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Perform quality-control inspections of machined parts.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on CNC and shop machinery.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills in support of machining and programming tasks.
  • Willingness to work overtime and night shifts as needed during emergencies.
