About The Position

Miba Industrial Bearings US (Houston) LLC CNC Machinist / Programmer SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position writes, programs, or edits existing programs, performs set up and operates numerically controlled machinery to produce quality parts at cost and on time. It requires expertise and proficiency to effectively program, setup and operate VMC, HMC utilizing 3,4 or 5 axis as required SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO : Program CNC code using in-house software (GibbsCam), machine conversational programming, or other acceptable software to machine a quality part to print within the time allocated Successfully perform all duties of machine setup including identifying and using fixtures, holding devices, tool selection and setting tools with tool offsets Operate the machine safely and effectively by monitoring operations and making adjustments necessary to programs, holding devices or tooling to ensure a quality part is produced Work effectively from work orders, prints, sketches, layout sheets, written or verbal instructions Produce product/parts to tolerances identified within .0002” Comply to all company policies, processes, SOPs, procedures, work instructions either written or verbal Work without supervision or technical assistance from supervision or technical experts Recognize material reactions to machining for a variety of materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, brass, thermos plastics, exotics or other materials Inspect work as required using micrometer; bore gage, calipers, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications Perform daily and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment as required including but not limited to filling automatic oilers, maintaining coolant concentrations, ensure all axis movement, chip removal, and overall machine cleanliness as well as reporting abnormalities such as loose bolts, leaks, unusual noises or vibrations Report immediately to your supervisor, equipment concerns, missing information, questionable dimensioning or any other issue that would prevent you from meeting your objective Perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies. Additional duties as assigned. EHS REQUIREMENTS : Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the Company’s goals. Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook. Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company’s environmental performance goals. Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a technical school education and working machinist knowledge or equivalent numerical control machining skills experience required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience required
  • Ability to read and interpret work related machine drawings.
  • Ability to perform average to complicated mathematical calculations and resolve elementary technical problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience is a low volume, prototype or one-off machining environment.
  • Setups and quality 1 st piece off is extremely important.
  • Expertise in multiple machine tools, e.g., CNC complex or multi-axis Lathe, CNC complex or multi-axis Mill, Manual Lathe, Manual Mill

Responsibilities
