We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Toolroom Machinist to support the manufacturing floor with the fabrication, modification, and maintenance of precision tooling, fixtures, and components. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, CNC programmers, and machine operators to ensure timely and accurate production support across various machines, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis vertical and horizontal CNC mills, Wire EDM, Sinker EDM, and surface grinders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 10+ years of experience as a Toolroom or Manual Machinist in a job shop or production support environment.
  • Proficient in the use and setup of 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills, manual mills/lathes, Wire and Sinker EDM, and surface grinding machines.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • technical/vocational training preferred
  • Familiarity with CAM software and G-code/M-code programming is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machinery to build and repair fixtures, jigs, dies, tooling, and prototype parts.
  • Perform precision machining on tight-tolerance components using mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs, and related equipment.
  • Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and verbal instructions.
  • Collaborate with programmers and operators to develop solutions for tooling and setup challenges.
  • Inspect completed parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, indicators, height gauges, etc.).
  • Support preventive maintenance of shop tools and machines.
  • Modify and repair existing tooling as needed to improve performance or resolve issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards.
  • Document work processes and maintain accurate records of jobs and tool usage.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
