BASIC FUNCTION: Perform various semi-skilled to skilled operations using various CNC machines. PRIMARY DUTIES: Responsibilities: Set up and operate CNC turning centers and/or machining centers with assistance from a supervisor, experienced machinist, or other experienced personnel. Follow written and verbal procedures as assigned. Read and interpret work order routings, prints, sketches, and tool sheets, as required. Must be able to recognize and understand machine functions as required. Knowledge of working with a variety of material is required. Have the ability to use preset tools. Ability to understand and follow a tool path within a program. Inspect work using micrometer; bore gage, vernier calipers, or other measuring precision instruments. This may include micrometers up to 25”. Set up and operate turning centers and/or machining centers. Select proper feeds, speeds and tooling. Determine clamping methods and make machine adjustments with limited use of fixtures. Both mills and lathes will be responsible for maintaining tolerances per drawing requirements. Knowledge of CNC programming using G&M code is preferred. Must have the ability to perform basic edits and offsets. May provide technical leadership and train less experienced machinist. Required of All Positions Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies, reports unsafe conditions to supervisor. Make proper labor and time report entries. Keep machine(s) / work area clean and orderly. Perform other duties as required.
