Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to edit programs for CNC equipment
  • Ability to follow simple written and verbal instructions
  • Good understanding of blueprint reading with regards to machining diameters (ID &OD) surfaces and simple shapes
  • Must be able to machine parts to specified tolerance and use simple measuring devices like micrometers an depth micrometers to measure the part
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs or more on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in narrow spaces, climb, balance, stoop and kneel

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with stainless and tool steel alloys preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates conventional and special purpose machines to fabricate metallic parts
  • Applies knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials and layout techniques
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and set up requirements
  • Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machine, such as saws, mills, grinding, burning and drilling equipment
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required
  • Sets up and operates machine on a trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings
  • Verifies dimensions using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocks
  • May develop specifications from general descriptions and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated
  • May confer with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
