About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to set up and operate, program manual and CNC horizontal milling machines, manual lathes, and CNC lathes performing detailed operations on a variety of parts and components. Use a range of tools, including milling cutters, boring bars and heads, saws, micrometers, gauges, indicators, and more. Your role will require a proven understanding of shop mathematics and the capacity to interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, and tables. You should also have experience with precision measuring instruments and/or specialized occupation training.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of machining experience in a low volume/high mix production environment or job shop
  • Functional understanding of how to read and edit G & M Code
  • Knowledge of tooling selection with feeds and speeds for proper metal removal
  • The Career Readiness/Work Keys Certificate - Silver Status required - modifications to be made
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests or any other as required to perform the duties.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Using material handling devices to load/unload parts from machines or assist the crane operator. You will be setting up machines by installing tooling and adjusting machine settings, feeds, speeds, etc., according to job documentation and drawing specifications.
  • Securing work pieces using various tools and equipment to ensure accurate alignment and leveling.
  • Following established procedures and using lineups, manuscripts, programs, and tooling sheets to operate machines.
  • Perform machining operations using manual, semi-automatic, or automatic controls to mill, drill, ream, bore, tap, turn, face, groove, radius, and grind, among other operations.
  • Conduct in-process integrity checks to maintain specific drawing tolerances and perform in-process testing and data recording and making vital tool changes or offsets and re-orienting machines as required.
  • Removing chips from work pieces and performing inspections and deburring/cleaning as needed, as well as perform preventative maintenance and minor machine repairs, and complete required documentation, such as log sheets and downtime records.
