About The Position

BASIC FUNCTION: Develops and programs machine plan using parts drawing and sets-up, operates, and maintains numerically controlled machinery to machine a wide variety of metal and non-metal parts according to print specifications to meet plant and production standards.

Requirements

  • Education: One and one-half years commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school.
  • Experience: Three to four years related work experience.
  • Ability to read and program in various formats (M, G, Mazatrol, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes part drawing, sketches, design data, blueprints, and production orders.
  • Determines the part program using the part process sheet.
  • Manually enters process sheet program.
  • Revises and makes program corrections as required.
  • Documents tape process sheets, tooling and tooling location, sets up instruction sheets, parts program tape files, etc.
  • Mounts workpiece, selects and installs tooling in sequence.
  • Sets-up and adjusts machine operation and tooling.
  • Starts machining operation observing numerical displays on control panel.
  • Over-rides controls to correct machine performance.
  • Retrieves parts.
  • Verifies conformance of parts to print specifications.
  • Insures adequate coolant flow and detects and remedies malfunctions when possible.
  • Keeps production records.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe practice rules.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.
