KBR is seeking a CNC Machinist to support multiple spacecraft missions for KBR’s Science and Space Division. The work will be performed at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Greenbelt, MD , and will likely be second shift. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for: Setting-up, programming, and operation of CNC and conventional machines for end-to-end manufacturing with minimal supervision. Communicating and engaging with engineers and designers to collaborate about complex designs and provide fabrication insight to ensure project success. Achieving and maintaining proficiency with all applicable quality processes associated with assigned work. Monitoring and recording duration of work performed in the ERP system in accordance with business and Quality procedures. Performing in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments (i.e., I.D and O.D. Micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.) to verify that customer hardware specifications and tolerances are met.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Exposure CAD/CAM programming software.
  • Competency in operating general computer functions such as email, file directories, and other web-based applications.
  • 10 years of experience with set-up, programming, and operation of CNC machining equipment.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Multi-Axis machining.
  • Exposure MasterCam programming software (2017 and up).
  • Proficient computer skills in programs such as; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • A current security clearance at the Secret or Top-Secret level.
  • Feature CAM Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
