About The Position

The role of the Machinist is to operate and maintain lathes, milling machines and/or grinders on a variety of manual and/or CNC controlled equipment. The Machinist is responsible for reviewing drawings, instructions, and prints to ensure accurate production of precision bearings. Candidates will be considered at Level I, II, or III based on education, experience, and demonstrated capability. Machinist I: High school diploma or equivalent and 0+ years machining experience using mills, lathes, and/or grinders. Machinist II: High school diploma or equivalent. If less than 8 years’ experience, Technical Diploma, Associate Degree in related field, and/or Journeyman Machinist required. If 8+ experience, no additional education required. Machinist III: High school diploma or equivalent and Associate Degree, Technical Diploma in a related field and/or Journeyman Machinist card. 8+ years machining experience using mills, lathes, and grinders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0+ years machining experience using mills, lathes, and/or grinders (Machinist I)
  • Technical Diploma, Associate Degree in related field, and/or Journeyman Machinist required if less than 8 years’ experience (Machinist II)
  • 8+ experience, no additional education required (Machinist II)
  • Associate Degree, Technical Diploma in a related field and/or Journeyman Machinist card (Machinist III)
  • 8+ years machining experience using mills, lathes, and grinders (Machinist III)

Responsibilities

  • Operate machine tools such as CNC and/or manual lathes, milling machines, and/or grinders to produce metal parts.
  • Perform setups in accordance with instructions.
  • Read and comprehend G and M code and programs.
  • Check parts during runs with the appropriate gages.
  • Inspect all finished products for accuracy to ensure product quality meets company standards.
  • Report any non-conforming or defective material immediately to a supervisor.
  • Generate programs or edits existing programs as required.
  • Review programs for accuracy.
  • May be required to operate multiple machines or functions internal to primary operations as circumstances permit.
  • Accurately logs direct and indirect time to data collection software.
  • Maintain safe operations of all machine tools and equipment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Exemplify Kingsbury’s safety mindset by complying with all safety requirements and acts as a safety ambassador.
  • Attends all company required trainings and meetings. (ie safety and department meetings)
  • Complete special projects, continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.
