Spirax-Sarco Ltd.La Vergne, TN

About The Position

Composed of Chromalox, Durex Industries, Vulcanic, and Thermocoax businesses, Electrical Thermal Solutions (ETS), part of Spirax Group, creates electrical process heating and temperature management solutions, including industrial heaters and systems, heat tracing, and a range of component technologies. At Chromalox, we build advanced thermal technologies for the world’s most challenging industrial heating applications. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we got our start with an innovative solution 100 years ago when a self-taught engineer invented the first metal-sheathed resistance heating element. It was this then-advanced thermal technology that launched an entire industry. We excel in industries that have high expectations. We are acknowledged as experts at delivering solutions that exceed specifications, limit risk, and reduce operating costs. Join us as we continue to provide solutions to our customers and the world! The Role: A CNC Machinist will set up, operate, and maintain Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to produce precise parts from materials like metal or plastic, interpreting blueprints, programming machines, selecting tools, monitoring production for quality, performing inspections (first article, in-process), and troubleshooting issues to meet tight specifications for industries like aerospace, automotive, and medical Key duties involve programming, setup, operation, quality control, and maintenance, requiring skills in math, mechanics, and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Understanding of blueprints, strong math skills, familiarity with CNC software, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors, engineers, and quality control.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine operation.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GDT (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of materials, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Attention to detail, strong hand-eye coordination, and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Setup & Programming: Interpret technical drawings (blueprints, sketches) to set up machines, create/modify programs (G-code), select tools, and calculate feeds/speeds.
  • Operation: Run CNC Mills, Lathes, or other machines to shape raw stock into finished components.
  • Quality Control: Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to ensure they meet exact tolerances and specifications, performing first article inspections.
  • Maintenance & Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning and light maintenance on CNC machines and tools.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate logs of production, quality checks, and machine actions.
