JOB SUMMARY: Performs all operations necessary to complete the fabrication of a part using CNC milling and lathe machines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.) Operates and performs all set-ups on CNC machines. Performs basic programming for CNC machines. Makes necessary edit changes on CNC machines. Inspects quality and accuracy of own work. Must be able to read and interpret drawings or models of complex geometries. Performs minor machine maintenance. Makes and sharpens cutting tools. Operates all standard tool room machines. Maintains a clean and safe work area and follows safety procedures. OTHER FUNCTIONS: Other duties maybe assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or three years of basic shop experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate a computer and interpret and use CNC programs.
  • Knowledge of CNC codes and basic machine and fabrication safety procedures, and an ability to read blueprints and operate relevant measuring instruments.
