About The Position

Rugged Science, located in Sparks MD, is looking for a strong candidate to be a key player in fabricating high quality industrial and military products. Our fabrication team is in need of a full-time CNC machinist who can produce quality machined parts from 3D models.

Requirements

• Experience with evaluating 3D models and 2D drawings
• Proficiency in designing tooling and fixturing for production parts
• Experience with CAM software, specifically Fusion 360
• Ability to set up and operate a HAAS CNC mill (VF3)
• Knowledge of safety requirements in a fabrication environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Experience in processing prototypes and special orders
• Strong communication skills for providing feedback to leadership
• Familiarity with company procedures regarding material movement

Responsibilities

• Evaluating 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturability
• Designing tooling and fixturing for production parts
• Creating tool paths in CAM software (currently use Fusion 360)
• Creating tooling for existing products to improve quality and manufacturability
• Setting up and operating a HAAS CNC mill (VF3)
• Strictly adhering to all safety requirements
• Lifting up to 50 lbs
• Perform work within expected rates and costs
• Assist in processing prototypes and special orders
• Provide feedback to leadership regarding fabrication limitations and best practices
• Follow Company procedures regarding material movement
• Report directly to the Shop Manager
• Occasional day travel may be required
