About The Position

This position involves various levels of responsibilities in machining and CNC operations. The role is structured into three levels, each with increasing complexity and responsibility. Level 1 focuses on basic machining techniques and operating 3-axis CNC machines, while Level 2 includes advanced machine techniques and mentoring responsibilities. Level 3 encompasses designing tooling and providing training to staff. The position emphasizes teamwork, adherence to quality management systems, and maintaining lean manufacturing practices.

Requirements

  • Some manufacturing experience utilizing various machines and processes (Level 1).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications (Level 1).
  • Basic understanding of inspection techniques (Level 1).
  • Organizational ability (Level 1).
  • Problem solving skills (Level 1).
  • Ability to work independently as well as collectively (Level 1).
  • Intermediate knowledge of relevant machining experience (Level 2).
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training or mentoring (Level 2).
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes including specific experience on assigned equipment (Level 3).
  • Experience providing on-the-job training or mentoring (Level 3).
  • Experience developing tooling and production processes (Level 3).
  • Aptitude for supervisory skills (Lead).

Responsibilities

  • Understands basic machining techniques.
  • Processes product using various CNC Machines.
  • Able to set up and operate 3 axis CNC equipment.
  • Verify your own product using basic inspection equipment.
  • Deburr parts.
  • Follow Quality Management Systems (QMS) procedures.
  • Process work within performance and delivery requirements.
  • Meet established productivity standards.
  • Follow communicated job priority instructions.
  • Communicate production delays and problems to appropriate supervisor.
  • Utilize ERP system to document work movement.
  • Support all members of the Manufacturing and Orion team fully to achieve company, departmental, and personal goals.
  • Maintain 6S and Lean manufacturing best practices.
  • Participate in team and company meetings.
  • Role model proper work ethics, behaviors, hygiene, and dress.
  • Set up and run 4 & 5 axis CNC machines (Level 2).
  • Set-up tooling and production processes on CNC equipment (Level 2).
  • Become a Mentor to Program Participants (Level 2).
  • Designs, specifies, and creates tooling and production processes on CNC equipment (Level 3).
  • Provides training to Orion staff and recommends qualification on specific processes and equipment (Level 3).
  • Ability to make manufacturing improvements (Level 3).
  • Edit CNC programs and equipment (Level 3).
