Mitsubishi Power is seeking a Machinist based in our Savannah, GA location for second/weekend shift. The Machinist independently reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods, and sequences. The regular work schedule is second/weekend shift, but new hires will complete training (3-6 months) on first shift.

  • Verify fixture setup meets acceptable quality standards regarding milling and boring sizes, depths, angles, or other specifications.
  • Proficient in the ability to run and operate machines equipped with FANUC controls.
  • Ability to hold tolerances down to 5 microns or equivalent (.0002 Inches/.005 Millimeters).
  • Proficient with a range of measuring tools: micrometers, calipers, ID mics, bore gauges, dial indicators, test indicators, profilometers, and depth gauges.
  • Install, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and parts on machine.
  • Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine magazines.
  • Load control media, card, or disk, in machine controller or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from database.
  • Calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to part and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
  • Operate machine and monitor displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stop machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications.
  • Enter commands or manually adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Operate machine manually to perform non-automated functions.
  • Perform dimensional inspection of various products.
  • Discuss control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
  • Clean machine, tooling, parts and add machine oil as needed.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 2 Years of machining experience, technical certification or degree in a machining discipline, or equivalent.
  • Fluent in reading and understanding G and M Code.
  • Experience with machines: Horizontal Mills, Vertical Mills, VTLs, Lathe, Manual Mills, Surface grinders, and EDMs.
  • Applicants must be US Citizens of the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • Ability to pass routine background check and drug test per company policy.
  • 5 Years of machining experience to include load, unload or parts and tooling and basic inspections.
  • Associate's degree, certificate, or equivalent in a machining discipline from two-year college or technical school.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to internal and external constituents.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to operate and understand using both SAE and Metric units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
