About The Position

Plans, set-up, create and edit programs also must have the ability to operate any CNC mill and lathe Machine tools. This requires the operation of complex CNC controls in order to make product parts to exacting tolerances and finishes including but not limited to FANUC Controls. Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Select tooling, prepare set up sheet ,label geometry on part print, write computer program, prove out program, post & process, distribute documentation, enhance proven programs to maximum efficiency. Responsible for updating & maintaining program availability log & tooling log. Must be knowledgeable regarding facilities equipment, capabilities & capacities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Completion of Four Years Trade School or Equivalent.
  • Completion of four years Trade or Technical School, or Equivalent, ability to program using but not limited to G Code, conversational language, etc., advanced shop mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, and a wide variety of precision measuring instruments. Must be able to read and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and code numerical control programs that will utilize N/C & CNC machine tools. Optimize current and existing programs and write new programs as necessary, use computer equipment and supplies in an efficient manner.
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference plans, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; trimming heads
  • Plans how operations will be performed on the machine. This includes part holding and alignment, proper tooling, CNC Programming, and program interpretation. Read and follow complex blueprints and sketches, make machine and tooling adjustments for a wide range of parts, operate both part and tool probing for accurate measurements, along with a variety of precision measuring instruments to verify exact tolerances and finishes. Perform required mathematical computations. Run through involved tooling and process readouts to verify program readiness.
  • Performs such other related duties as sequencing of work for efficiencies, makes layouts, performs incidental bench operations, grinds and sets tools for special machining configurations.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks including cleaning machines, checking oil, verifying machine guards are in place and others daily
  • Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Operate crane, material moving equipment and power equipment.
  • Furnishes own hand tools necessary to perform duties.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to others as needed.
  • Set up and operate other assigned machine tools.
  • Performs other duties as may be required.
  • Follows appropriate handling and disposal of hazardous waste, if any is identified by the company, and will comply with JSA Regulations. Knowledge of applicable Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • For protection of self and others, performs all work in accordance with established safety practices and facility safety rules.
  • Produces quality on time parts and complies with ISO 9000 requirements
