The CNC Machinist (Mill Turn) plays a vital role in our operations by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) Mill/Turn machines. They are responsible for maintaining safety and quality standards, documenting procedures, and ensuring equipment upkeep to support the achievement of Masterbilt’s business goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years in manufacturing and CNC machining a must.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficient in CNC Lathe machines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to create work instructions and train others.
  • Solid collaboration skills, openness to new ideas, positive attitude, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, operate machinery, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to moderate noise in manufacturing environments.
  • Occasional requirement for suitable Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Limited travel, less than 5%

Responsibilities

  • Plan machining processes by studying work orders, blueprints, and specifications, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Program CNC machines by entering instructions, setting tool registers, and proving part programs.
  • Set up machines by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, and attachments.
  • Develop fixturing designs and tools for effective work holding.
  • Maintain specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, troubleshooting processes, and adhering to quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensure safe operations by following safety procedures and regulations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs and staying updated with industry advancements through continuous learning.
