About The Position

The CNC Machinist at Capewell Aerial Systems in South Windsor, CT is responsible for producing machined parts by setting up and operating CNC machines. This role involves maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and ensuring equipment and supplies are well-maintained. The machinist will work closely with programmers to optimize machining times and will be expected to inspect their own work using standard gaging methods. The position requires adherence to safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

• Completion of a precision manufacturing program is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in CNC manufacturing required.
• Must have experience with CNC Mills.
• Experience with HAAS equipment is a plus.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• Desire to learn new skills.
• Must have good basic math skills.
• Able to read, write and speak English.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Previous independent work environment preferred.
• Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various shop equipment including CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Understand CNC Programs.
• Work with Programmer to optimize machining times.
• Inspect own work with standard gaging.
• Maintain quality and production standards.
• Make tool adjustments and changes.
• Perform secondary operations as required.
• Maintain equipment and/or machinery.
• Train other employees as required.
• Assist other operators to maintain production and quality.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
• Fill out inspection, work orders, and process records.
• Work toward continual improvement of self and job.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
