About The Position

Scot Forge is an employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings used in demanding applications all over the world. We have locations in Franklin Park, IL, Spring Grove, IL, and Clinton, WI. The position is for a CNC Machinist in metal fabrication, working 2nd shift from 4:00 pm to 4:00 am, Monday to Friday, with a 10% shift premium. Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Strong math and computer skills.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with hand tools.

Nice To Haves

• Use of micrometer, caliper, and tape measure.
• Machine setup and operation experience.
• Blueprint reading skills.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Crane rigging and operation experience.
• Prior manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up CNC machinery.
• Use gauges such as micrometers or calipers.
• Operate overhead cranes.
• Drive forklifts.
• Actively participate in safe work practices.
• Set up equipment, install tools and fixtures, and monitor entire run due to unique forgings.
• Run production, monitoring CNC machines, lathes, mills, and saws, checking parts throughout the run and making necessary adjustments to conform to specifications.
• Verify blueprints and dimensions, identify forgings and material types, and read and understand the entire part routing.
• Visually inspect, layout, and prepare materials as required, examining materials for flaws and defects.
• Calculate chain and strap adjustments to ensure safe lifting and transporting of parts.
• Load material into machines utilizing overhead cranes and secure it for safe machining on forgings that can exceed 100,000 lbs.
• Identify forgings, material types, and verify blueprints and dimensions prior to loading parts.
• Actively participate in the safety program to ensure its continued success.
