Depending on experience, responsibility may include: Operating a CNC to set-up of metal cutting machine tools both manual and/or including mills and lathes. To be responsible for properly placing work pieces in the machines and completing the operations specified on the job travelers. An ability to interpret blueprints and part specifications, knowing how to select the correct materials, tools and manufacturing for processes is a plus. Knowledge of G-code programming formats is desirable for the II and III levels along with a good working knowledge of inspection equipment and capability in selecting the proper inspection tool to verify product conformity to specifications. Working knowledge of programming techniques both at the machine control and via CAD/CAM software. An experienced CNC Machinist will assist in mentoring lower level machinists and take an active role in guiding the overall workflow of the department for maximum efficiency.
