About the Role We’re seeking a CNC Lead Machinist with 5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment. In this role, you’ll help implement new machines at our Bristow, Virginia facility, lead and mentor operators, and ensure high‑quality production of precision parts. This is a hands‑on position where leadership meets craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience
  • A machinist mindset with a passion for teaching and developing others
  • Strong math skills (feeds/speeds, geometry, trigonometry)
  • Ability to read drawings and understand tolerancing/GD&T
  • Experience with precision measuring tools
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Reliable attendance and strong communication skills
  • Ability to operate material‑handling equipment
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials
  • Strong visual acuity for detailed inspections
  • Steady hand‑eye coordination for precision measurement
  • Ability to sit for periods while entering inspection data

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Haas CNC Mills and Lathes
  • Troubleshoot machine alarms and resolve issues
  • Read and interpret part drawings, including GD&T
  • Adjust machine offsets and parameters to maintain tight tolerances
  • Train, mentor, and guide new operators in setup, production, and quality
  • Collaborate with programmers to validate setup sheets and programs
  • Help develop work instructions for machine setup and operation
  • Perform first‑article and periodic inspections
  • Conduct basic machine maintenance
  • Read and interpret G‑Code
  • Support additional production tasks as needed
